We'll see when the movie comes out. Because I really liked his performance in 2019's "The Lighthouse", I'm willing to give him a chance at portraying the comic book icon. Who knows, he may even become the definitive Batman. A lot of people weren't on board with Affleck (not me right enough) and look how that turned out. I don't think he's really suited to these major film, blockbusters though. Some of the reports coming from the set of The Batman (which has now finished filming) are really weird. There's been reports that Pattison doesn't want to train or is late to set and all of this really unprofessional stuff, not to mention the whole saga with Zoe Kravitz. Whether or not its true is another question, but there have been so many reports, even from reliable entertainment news sites, that you would suspect that some of it is true. I still think they should have waited for Ben Affleck, the stuff I've heard about his Batman script sounded really cool. Basically it was going to be a massive grudge match with Batman and Deathstroke, as alluded to with the end credit scene at the end of Justice League. That's not really something we've seen on the big screen. Whereas this new The Batman film, from what I gather from the trailer, seems like a by the numbers Batman film. I do hope it is good but the consistent delays to the release date, as well as an uninterested lead actor, don't bode well. I just want a Batman film with Scarecrow as the main villain. Maybe throw Manbat in there as a side-villain. Scarecrow, imo, is by far the most interesting and versatile Batman villain to base a movie around. Like, a Batman film with scarecrow actually done right and in the lead antagonist role would be awesome, especially if they managed to make it R rated and partially a horror film as to use Scarecrow to his fullest potential. One idea for a batman story I had was an alternate history batman series showing how different batman characters influenced real historical events in the DC universe. I think a really interesting idea would be to show Scarecrow working for the government in the 1950s, either through MK Ultra or the House of Un American Activities Committee. Using his fear toxin in either the MK Ultra experiments or to artificially increase the fear of communism in Americans to unrealistic lengths. Sure, it's a bit of an abstract idea. But I think it would be interesting to explore. I really don't know where you'd insert other villains into real world history though. Maybe Mr. Freeze created the iceberg that sunk the titanic, idk.

I watched it with some of my friends yesterday. It was really dumb fun whenever Kong and Godzilla were actually fighting, but we were so bored whenever it focused on the boring human characters. Unfortunately Kong and Godzilla fighting is only like 25 minutes of the 2 hour runtime, with a lot of space in between fights. If you just cut out almost all the human parts, and just made it actually Kong and Godzilla fighting for 95% of the movie, I would have liked it much better overall. Still, the action scenes were really great, just pure adrenaline fueled monster battles. The first fight is pretty much almost exactly like the eighth episode of Neon Genesis Evangelion though, there were so many scenes in that fight that were just too similar to be a coincidence. I've heard a lot of people make that argument about these new Kaiju films, why don't they just make it about the monsters? The reason why they don't do that is because it would get hell of a boring after a while, even something as amazing as King and Godzilla going at it would get old after a full film of it. Plus, it would have no re-watch factor to it, as if you've seen the fights then you've seen the fights. Also, a full film of CGI monsters would be insanely expensive and wouldn't be worth it considering the money these types of films do. It reminds me of when people talk about Black Sabbath, people say, oh, why don't Black Sabbath do an album just of the heavy stuff, no ballads or slower songs or anything's like that. Well, an album of the same thing, like a movie of the same thing, would become stale and boring. A punch packs more impact after a hug, a wise man once said. The problem with it not being mostly monster fights is that the non-monster fight segments are boring as hell. If they made those segments interesting and the overall runtime shorter I wouldn't be complaining about them. As for Sabbath, Dehumanizer is an album that doesn't have any really slower parts iirc. I haven't heard every Sabbath album, so I can't say for all of them. If you count The Devil You Know as a Sabbath album, that's also is pretty consistently heavy.

Hathaway = Best Catwoman but they should have played on the former prostitute thing a bit. Bale = Best Batman Ledger = Best Joker Devito = Best Penguin (don't care for Burton's work usually but I liked how he was deformed to be Penguin like, it was a creative idea) I haven't seen The Dark Knight Rises, so I can't say for catwoman, but I agree with you on Batman, Joker, and Devito's best actors. I've heard The Dark Knight Rises isn't that great from my friend who's a bigger batman fan than I am. He says the film ruins the character of Bane by turning him from this jacked up powerhouse who's secretly very emotionally vulnerable due to childhood trauma, into an uber-tactial and edgy big mouthed terrorist leader. I also don't really see Tom Hardy as Bane, even though I like Hardy as an actor. Asides from the fact that comic book Bane is of South American origin and Hardy is caucasian, I think Bane works much better as an antagonist who can be intimidating without even speaking. I could really see the guy who plays Anton in No Country for Old Men as Bane, he has the look and the intimidating factor. What a lot of people don't get about Tom Hardy's Bane is that he thinks he's the hero of the story. He's essentially fulfilling what Ra's Al Ghul set out to do in the first film, destroy Gotham. The League of Shadows believed that Gotham was everything that was wrong with the world. That's why they destroyed it economically, then they attempted to destroy it through the microwave emitter in the first film, but Ghul dies and the league along with him. Bane returns to Gotham to fulfil Ghul's legacy, the destruction of Gotham and the defeat of Batman, he isn't there for revenge or anything like that, he's there to continue the work of the man who trained him. Bane becomes a far more interesting character if you view his motivations through this lens.

If you asked me what my least favorite Sabbath song is, I'd probably say "Changes" off Vol 4, it's so repetitive and Ozzy's singing on it damn near gives me a migraine. Though, to give Ozzy credit, he does sing my favorite Sabbath ballad, that being Planet Caravan.

Also, this is totally getting moved to the music thread.

Calling it right now, the Predator was responsible for the Roanoke vanishing. It wouldn't surprise me. Also, you know what I never got about The Terminator franchise, why didn't they send a Terminator waaaaaay back and have it take out John Connor's ancestor. In that period they wouldn't have had any weapons in which to fight back against the Terminator, so it would have been easy pickings.

Well, there could be unaccounted for side effects to killing the ancestor of the target instead of the target itself.

Frank has his beliefs and they are pretty well known fans of the comic book industry, but he's in no bears a grudge to any sort of religion, simply radicalisation of beliefs is what he has a problem with. I like Frank's work but he has always kind of had an issue with negative racial and religious stereotypes, maybe it isn't intentional but those negative stereotypes are in his body of work. Alan Moore has given him hell over portraying races wrong in the past, or poorly, and I don't want to start looking for the controversial stuff Miller has said over the years, I don't want to end up disliking his work because the interviews may make him seem like an asshat. As for Bane, didn't they have him in one of the campy films with Clooney or Kilmer were he was just a total meathead? Bane is an interesting character in the comic, and an iconic one since he was the first bad guy to break the Bat, or so they say. The thing is, Bane wasn't the first one to cripple Batman, Bruce was shot outside of a courthouse in a story line involving switching bodies and was wheelchair bound for a bit of time, eh recovered pretty fast. wolf I just finished The Crow: City Of Angels, first time I've seen it in HD and they didn't fix anything, there's some bad brief white specks in quite a few scenes which could have been cleaned up with ease, and the overall PQ isn't that great. Story wise, the film isn't bad, even though it has like an 11% score on RT. I actually prefer the third though, I'm thinking I may watch it now... can't make up my mind. Not doing anything this easter and I'm not going out this afternoon, its packed out there with people stocking up on booze and food.

...I've heard there were more Crow films after City of Angels, one with Eric Mabius and another Edward Furlong, but have never seen them. Have you heard of them/seen them? I don't expect any sequels to equal the first Brandon Lee film, but I would check them out at least once.

The third film which never released on BD in the US, its worth watching.
The fourth film with Furlong, I don't like it all that much, but it is better than the tv series they did for a season or two.
They should have done the female Crow from the comic for the fourth film, it brought new life to the franchise but they said it was too risky, despite the fact we've seen Milla kick a*s in Resident Evil, Beckinsale kick a*s in Underworld, etc, and so on.

Kristen Dunst, Eric Mabius, and a few others that I've seen in other films but I can't remember their names.
Its not a bad film, I actually like it better than the 2nd. Perez does a great job in the second but the bad guys just were dumb, they all just died except for Judah, there was nothing memorable about any of their deaths, even Iggy's. In the first, they all have memorable deaths, especially T-Bird, that whole, "it can't be you.. it can't be you... this is the really real world...", great scene, better than the scene where the final bad guy is killed.
Best revenge flick? No. Best goth revenge flick without a doubt but the best revenge flick in my opinion is Death Sentence with Kevin Bacon because it has him pay the price for what he had done, or appears he's about to. He goes after the one who kills his son thinking an eye for an eye is fine but doesn't realize that would just make those who liked who he killed want revenge on him, so they kill his wife and put his son in a coma and then he goes after them, he gets them.. sure... but in the end his son wakes up from the coma and he's on his way to be booked for murder, so he made his son an orphan basically. Many wanted Dexter to be killed in the end or in prison and were upset he got away in the end, which is why they're doing one more season, Morgan wants the story wrapped up in a way that is fitting, so he probably will die or be imprisoned at the end of the final season they're working on.
