What Do You Mean Edward Jonh? Wolverine, not the superhero, is a weasel type wolf creature. That's what I mean! That's where Wolverine gets his name!

Hey Dizzy darlin' 😊
Wolverines are really awesome animals! 😊 All predators evolved from the "Cat"....as time went by predators went off into two different branches: Dog (ish) side and Cat side....
Wolves, Bears, Wolverines (which are closely related to Badgers, and on down to weasles) Hyenas and probably a few more are on the "Dog/Canine" type side.
Then of course there are all the wild Cats, the Felines. 😊
Fox are kind of in the middle they are like the "cats" of the canine world. Actually they termed as Vulpine as Wolves are Lupine, I think Coyote and Dingos are all Canine.....
It's all pretty complicated. Just trying to put it in a nutshell for you. Lol, and I'm sure I'm not doing that great of a job of it.
Maybe @kurben,might be somewhat familiar with wha I'm talking about. Maybe not. All be irie lil sis! Love them Wolverines too!😄❤

Anyways Thank You For Telling Me that I Learn Some ting New Today! Badgers and Wolverines are small.....but they are FEROCIOUS fighters. Quite formidable and impressive. 😊
Did you know that in the comic books, Wolverine is only about the same height as Kitty Pryde when she was 13 years old? About 5 foot 3 inches I think. 😊
He was smaller in stature, but tremendous amongst other men and mutants.
Thanks for the compliment lil sis, but not me, I'm not so great. lol, I've just picked alot of information over the years about things I'm very interested in. Life and the world has been my university. 😊😉
Have a good night Diz! Love you lil Sis!😊❤

Getting back to Wolves now, Dizzy 😊 This National Geo Docu is really very good. The end is sad, but it is a remarkable story. You might enjoy it. It isn't that long. I saw the other morning on the news that the North American Grey Wolf is off the Endangered Species List again. That means their numbers are up again. That's a good thing. 💖
Here's the vid again.....

There have been no wild wolves in Pennsylvania for over a century. I remember visiting this place, a sanctuary for wolves in a natural setting, about a hour’s drive from me when I was young. It was a really enjoyable experience without any crowds. wolfsanctuarypa.org/tours-events/

Also, from Wikipedia.
"The English word wolverine (alteration of the earlier form, wolvering, of uncertain origin) probably implies "a little wolf"."

Maybe @kurben ,might be somewhat familiar with wha I'm talking about. Maybe not. All be irie lil sis! Love them Wolverines too!😄❤ Well, all of the above belong to the Order Carnivora which basically mean meateating animals. There are many families in there. Cats (Felidae), Dogs (including wolf, fox and Dingo are called Canidea. Hyenas are actually their own family (4 living species) but are actually closer related to the Cat family then the Dog family. Then there are the Weasel family which include Weasels, Badgers, otters and wolverine and the Bear Family (Ursidea) of which the Giant Panda is a member. Raccons is also their own family (12 different species). The biggest family is the Weasels with over 50 species while Dogs, Cats and (a bit surprisingly) Mongooses all have over 30 Species. The Coyote is a member of the Dog family. Add to that the sealiving members like Seals and Walruses and you have a lot of different cute animals. As to the evolution of them it is a bit fuzzy. The first were in place around 60 milion years ago, 5 million years after the Dinos died out. But the familys we know today are younger. At the earliest ca 40 million years ago (the Dog family) but for many of them probably later. The bear family ca 30 MYA, Weasels ca 20 MYA and Cats ca 15 MYA. There were catlike animals like the Nimravides but they werent true Cats. Many families have died out and been replaced by the current lot.

The Wolf-Dog hybrid that I had taken care of for a friend of mine, for about 9 months when he was working out of state, looked very much like this wolf. He was 3/4 Timber Wolf, 1/4 German Shepherd. He was huge, and VERY beautiful. I loved him. And I miss him very much. 🙂❤🐺.......

I tell you what, there's two distinct ways to tell if a wolf-dog actually has wolf in it's blood or not. The "eyes" and the "lope". No ordinary dog has these features.
(And again, as I have said before elsewhere, breeding and owning wolf-dog hybrids is WRONG, and I do not approve of the practice at all. Sad that people do that. )
I have yet to see a photograph or a film that has truly captured what a wolf's eyes are REALLY like. They have a most beautiful wildness to them. Here are a couple of pictures that pretty good though. 🙂❤......
