Real photo from the late 19th century of a railroad worker who had lost both of his legs in an accident, so he did what any amputee would. Build two makeshift wooden legs and buy a trained monkey to help him carry out duties that would otherwise be hindered by his severe handicap. The monkey was named Jack and he was paid with alcohol, which surprisingly didn't kill him and instead made him seemingly even more attentive to performing his duties, and he lived a healthy life until he passed away in 1890 and left a legacy at the station he worked at, being mourned by both the railroad workers, his owner, and regular passengers of the station who saw him performing his duties through the train window.

Yikes! That looks scary but it turns out they are whale sharks
Here's another one but it's more funny than amazing:
When we were in Scotland they told us about the basking sharks they had that used to swim close to the island - they look scary but they're plankton feeders, just like the whale shark
