He has proven he's still got some heart in his work and puts that just slightly ahead of a pay day, when it comes to his books, he'll sell the rights to them however without a second thought.
As for Gene Simmons, bad example for reasons I won't even get into other than to say most in the music world see him as a hack, and a pos.
King is no Simmons... IT was a huge seller when it came out, and sold even more when the 1990 mini aired, he would have struck then with a sequel if he just cared for money, the interest was there, the money was there but he didn't. Then they did the newer movies, and again, he could have done a shorter prequel or sequel to get it out while the franchise was red hot, he didn't, he wrote something else.
The mainstream have moved on from the clown, they've all gone back to Michael Myers. But hell, the mainstream is soooo fickle, many are already bored with Halloween Kills and looking forward to Scream 5 and some Obi Wan show.
Smartest artists I know are the ones who have integrity and just do the music they went when they want, they have a devoted fan base that doesn't flake because they're not mainstream brats with ADD, and they make a decent living. Rather make a decent living for 25 years than a BIG living for 2....
