Today I will mostly be catching up with the forum (meaning: lots of reading and hopefully posting a few modest contributions ) as I wasn't here last weekend. My social worker was here today. She put me on a waiting list for a 'rest week-end' away from the family. Hospice has a place where patients can go to get away if they like. She said the room is like a hotel room with a sofa, and table, and chairs, and a flat screen TV on the wall. There is a garden that you can walk through if you feel like it. She said the food is excellent, and I can take whatever kind of snacks I\ like with me. I can't wait for an opening to get to go. She said she has bookings for it up until January! That sounds fantastic, I hope there will be a free spot for you very soon!

Woke up this morning with a to-do list a mile long to try to accomplish before work. While I was getting ready, the drains starting acting up in my apartment. Before I could even call my landlord, my mom called and said she was having difficulty breathing. She had broken out in hives a few days ago, but thought it was a combination of a food allergy and stress. Today she had them from head to toe.
She's been sick and unable to work for about a month now (she has other health issues). I told her I was on my way over and to call 911 if the breathing problems got worse before I could get there. Then she called and said that she was nauseous and had just vomited and was going to lay down. I was so afraid she would stop breathing if she fell asleep! It's a miracle I didn't get into a car accident on my way to pick her up!
The doctor gave her a steroid shot and a prescription for Prednisone. She will have to follow up with her regular doctor.
I'd called my landlord while my mom was in with the doctor. He said he'd check out the drain problem and get back to me. I was very anxious about having him in there when I was gone, but didn't have a choice. Never heard back from him, so had to call after I got my mom situated. He was at my apartment along with a worker from Roto-Rooter. He told me he had to leave and would be back later. He was going to leave a complete stranger all alone in my apartment! I freaked out and rushed back over there before he left.
The bathroom was completely ripped apart and people were milling around with filthy shoes (I NEVER wear outside shoes inside!). Landlord pretty much insinuated that whatever the problem was, it was probably my fault. Then he made a comment about how this had to happen on his wedding anniversary. He left and I started crying.
Now I have to clean all my floors and the entire bathroom (lucky for me, it's tiny) before I go to bed. Trying to focus on the positive - my mom is doing a bit better after the shot. And the drain professionals put it in writing that the cause of the problem was that it's an old building and had been vacant for an extended period of time before I moved in. So the pipes and drains weren't being used and that caused them to not work properly.
Thanks for listening, my friends. Been a really bad day. Had to miss work too. I'm praying for continued improvement for my mom and a better day tomorrow.

Sending you a virtual hug morgan - what a stressful day you had! Hope you're feeling a bit better now - good thing you got it in writing that the drain problem was not caused by you and was beyond your control - you're one smart cookie!
Sending healing vibes too ((((morgan))))

Yeah, a get ready for Halloween Day would be great So how many years since Germany has been reunified? Is this to do with how at one time there used to be East Germany and West Germany (hope I don't sound like one of those ignorant people who posts dumb stuff on-line!)

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_reunificationYes, i am lazy today In honour of your special day I should buy the ingredients for cabbage rolls
There is also another recipe for the "Lazy Cabbage Rolls" where you just put everything together without rolling the cabbage leaves around the meat.
