Wow - what are the numbers like where you are?
Here we are at 350 for the whole province and the numbers appear to be remaining stable
I just happened to look at the local news--we have over 122,000 cases and over 2,000 deaths in AZ. Sorry to hear this - you must have a high population compared to my province. I think maybe out of the States, North Dakota has lower numbers? And maybe Wyoming - not sure but I would have to go look it up

Most of the cases in AZ are in Maricopa County--which is the Phoenix metro area. That's where I live. Yeah, it's a pretty densely populated city--I think we have over 4 million people here now. I believe I saw that South Dakota had really low numbers....like 7,000 cases in the whole state, 100 deaths and their numbers are steadily going down. So much for the idea that the summer heat would kill the virus, huh?!

Thanks--yeah, we've had an extreme heat advisory for the past few days and strange as it sounds, it's a good thing because it's too hot for people to go want to go out and do anything.

Up here in winter we get the exact opposite - wind chill warning with the risk of exposed flesh getting frostbitten within minutes
Wonder if the Coronavirus will settle down a bit once our winter comes back?

I've a rather strange (and possibly ominous) story to share from the workweek.
The health department for my county is right behind the library where I work. For the last several weeks they've had a drive-through COVID testing clinic, which has attracted the average number of takers. It's not a secret, and it's not new.
Well, Wednesday morning on the way into work I noticed a large amount of cars heading into town, and it appears they were all headed for the testing site! The line to get in was backed up all the way out of the side street that takes one to the clinic (and the library), and well into the main road. I tried to duck into work by taking another side street, but the traffic was backed up all to hell there too. Luckily a couple of kindly souls let me cut into the line so I could get to work on time!
I know Georgia's seen an uptick in cases (our governor not being the brightest crayon in the box), so this is worrisome on a couple of levels. At this rate I might not be able to get into town at all next week!

Wow! You work at the library? Good for you - what a great job
We had a huge lineup here too for the testing site - I just gave up and decided to come back another day
Good luck and stay safe - maybe you will have to take your bicycle to work at this rate

Yes, library work is the best! However, this is still a rural area and riding a bike on these busy country highways would not be advisable. Which is a pity, I would enjoy that or even walking to work!

This is the 2nd lockdown, now it is law and you will be fined for not wearing a mask. Army personal check on people in quarantine at home and many that should be home, are not, this makes it hard for everybody else. Luckily I have a lot to read, otherwise I might start pulling my hair out.

Good for you scoup - it can get pretty nasty out there - I was at Dollarama and this guy behind me was getting too close so I pointed out that he was supposed to be standing on a mark on the floor - his response was "I don't look down at the floor when I'm shopping"
Masks are not mandatory here yet but who knows? Maybe in the future they will be
(It's the same with the arrows on the floor indicating which way to go on a shopping aisle - many times I will be going the right way and I will see someone coming towards me, blithely ignoring the big X at their end of the aisle)

Covid-19 has brought out the best in some people and the worst in others. On this morning's news, there was a story of a 6 year old girl who has learned to sew this summer. She has made hundreds of hair scrunchies and face masks. Her mom helped her to sell them on line. The child raised $700.00 and is donating all the money to the local food pantry and to buy school supplies for kids in need.
Then I watched a video on Twitter that shows a man spitting on a boy who is wearing a face mask, simply because the child refuses to take the mask off.

That's terrible (about the poor boy)
No mandatory masks here but I heard Wally Mart will be making them mandatory - when I told Andy he said "so you can still wear your pyjamas as long as you have a mask on"
Our numbers in Manitoba are at 562 now - I noted only one month ago I was reporting 350, so it has gone up quite a bit in only a month

As of today, we are in our second lock-down.....wear masks, 6 feet away, outdoor visits, no gatherings over 10. Unless you are in school of course. Where all bets are off.
masks have been mandatory inside public places since the spring. With the following exceptions: you whine about some make-believe medical condition, or you are 2 years or younger.
(I’m a little bitter.)

No New Year`s eve partys this year. (Who would have guessed)
n view of the high numbers of Covid-19 infections, an extension of the partial lockdown – which includes the closure of restaurants, bars, hotels, cultural and leisure facilities – is likely up until at least December 20th.
States which have less than 35 new infections per 100 000 inhabitants within seven days and show a decreasing trend in this figure should be allowed to loosen measures before December 20th.
Private gatherings with friends, relatives and acquaintances will be limited to your own household and one other household, but in any case to a maximum of five people.

Not sure if it's too soon to post this or not but I feel there might be a light at the end of the tunnel
Keeping fingers crossed that the vaccine will work and all who want it/need it can get it ASAP

Roll out a virus, roll out a vaccine you mean? Yes, very happy. Credit to all those involved, even to the English in the south, they've done great work with this vaccine. The US should also be proud, with Operation Warp Speed and Pfizer, they've also done the lords work, and won't be long after us.

My only excuse is that I posted after midnight my time so I must have been tired. Which is weird because after I went upstairs to sleep it took me a really long time to finally fall asleep. Normally it doesn't take me long to nod off.
You mention the US as they won't be long after us. I wonder when Canada will finally get the vaccine? I have nothing against our current prime minister so I am not complaining.
I guess they just want to make sure it's all safe and that there are no repercussions or side effects.
Anyway - it's a step in the right direction at last which is very comforting. Perhaps life will eventually go back to what we used to consider 'normal' (fingers crossed).
