is it bad or morbid that this pandemic is making me want to read the stand again? Not at all.

I came home to the state last evening around 6pm, after getting my youngest from college, to discover our governor has seemingly declared himself king. Pennsylvania is shutting down all non-life-sustaining businesses as of midnight tonight. He has set off a state-wide panic with his actions and his decree (for the reasons given) is not within our state constitution. Businesses who do not comply are subject to citations, fines, or license suspensions. Someone needs to tell the governor that if you’ve got a job, that job is life-sustaining for your family. I understand taking some protective measures and precautions, but to potentially bankrupt just about every middle and low income family, and every small business, is criminal, IMO.

With the hoarding going on, it's easy to tell what people don't like. I was at the store yesterday looking in the frozen vegetable section and there was nothing except a large supply of turnip greens.
So you're saying my tofu supply shouldn't be a concern?

I hope and pray there is a speedy end to all of this. An end to the virus itself, and all the hardships that have come about because of it.

I think a lot of stores and restaurants will go bankrupt here. And this weekend they are debating about a curfew. If people don't change their behaviour, it`ll start on monday.
woo hoo

My daughter’s college has pretty much cleared out. Some student remain… international students, and students from far away states whose parents are trying to make arrangements before the March 23 eviction deadline. Some of the international students are from countries that we have instituted travel bans. The college is desperately trying to find homes to take in some of these students. But the worst part is there has been no food service since last Friday and the students can’t find food or places to eat. My daughter went down by bus on Tuesday (she was on spring break) to give herself a day and a half to pack everything up. She said there were notices that if students had extra food in their rooms to put it in the community center on their floors for students who were stuck without anything to eat. She took the first load of her extra food to the room (which was quite a lot) and when she came back with the second load everything was already gone (except for the seaweed chips). Same thing happened on her third trip with food -- three big boxes of food in all. It seems some students had designated lookouts for people bring food to the community room. Apparently roman noodles are currently worth their weight in gold. She probably left about two dozen bowls of the noodles for students. Many of the students on her floor (special floor designated for a select level of students in the Politics, Policy and Law program) come from all around the world and go to this university (top university in the country for international affairs) to learn how to rule and govern in their countries, and it was dog-eat-dog and survival of the fittest this week.

Florida has closed restaurant dining rooms down. There can still be takeout and delivery. I've been going to restaurants for lunch every day. The restaurants already had a separation policy and no condiments or anything else on the table. The restaurants seemed safer to me than fighting for toilet paper at the grocery store. I'm not sure why takeout is safer if you are still walking a restaurant to pick up food.

in England today was the last day that schools will be open and it was announced today that pubs, clubs, gyms, restaurants will all be closed.
I was speaking to my barber today, he said the only thing he thinks would save his shop would be lock down because businesses will be given help. There is also a ban on evictions for 3 months.

Similar things all going on over here too. Tomorrow is another new day, things get better. Keep safe Antony. Have a good night and sleep well.

My part of FL. west coast central is really lagging behind. Parking lots are full, grocery stores are packed. The big chain groceries are setting special hours for over 60- 65/ and cutting hours for re stocking and disinfecting. Daughter stopped in store last night and the stockers were literally throwing things on shelves. Bakery bread in bread aisle/ TP anywhere there was a space. available. I haven't been out in 2 weeks. Daughter continues to work.
Take out is safer as it means less contact. Not a group sitting inside close together. Please, everyone be safe.

Hmmm, Quarantine, curfew, nothing good on TV. It wouldn`t surprise me, if there`s an increase in births, 9 months from now on.
