Here are some flowers that I cut from my garden before Isaias blew through New England this week. Very nice! I noted a small pair of binoculars behind the vase in the first pic - is this for keeping an eye on the neighbors?

Very nice! I noted a small pair of binoculars behind the vase in the first pic - is this for keeping an eye on the neighbors? Good one, neesy ! Nope I use them to watch the birds on the marsh. We see Canadian Geese, Mallards, white Egrets, Great Blue Herons ( my favorites), cormorants, hawks, the occasional eagle and tons of songbirds. I don't watch the meat-shields. They are just too annoying! These pictures are from last winter- but you can see how the marsh is close to the house. That's cool that you are close to a marsh
This morning I was out battling with the cabbage moths - they like to eat broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower - well - they lay eggs which hatch into caterpillars then those caterpillars eat the plant.
I caught one and I am holding it captive - want to compare the look of it to a pic on the internet but I am pretty sure it's a cabbage moth.
I did smash one with a flyswatter - he's in the grass, smashed to smithereens now.
Anybody watching would think I was nuts - what I really need is a badminton racket!

Here are a few pics from the garden:
First one is a strawberry plant with two of my "cukes" - Second one is just a squash flower

The one above is another squash pic - the bees like the flowers
The one below is called a clematis - bought this for a few dollars from the garden centre back in June and it's doing well

Maybe I can squeeze three into this post - a brown grasshopper, a yellow boy tomato and .... Okay - never mind! (Will only allow these two so far)

Last post with pics - first one is my holey broccoli (cabbage moths were eating the leaves) - second one is Josh with Mom (that is a blob of red wax from a Babybel cheese that I molded into a clown nose)

You're awesome. Looking at your pics makes me want to kick myself (a little--not too hard) for not planting tomatoes before it got too hot. All I have now is a lot of dead grass. I'll refrain from posting pics of it.

Mine are all green right now (except for the yellow boy ones) - they will probably all ripen at the same time

I like to eat the green ones. They're hard to find in stores here because they ripen so fast in the heat.

My next door neighbor is very generous - she just gave me a big bag of various tomatoes - yellow, orange, red and one that looks sort of deep purple. All sizes too! Some are cherry tomatoes and a couple are the big red beef steak ones - Yum!
What do you do with the green ones? Do you do that deep fried and breaded green tomato recipe from the book and/or movie?

I just slice 'em up and put salt on them and eat them like they were Pringles. ypqvuoQkbLrsrPndxMXQ

Yay! I found the gardening thread at last
So far Andy has transplanted the following:
Purple Rain Salvia
plus: a white bleeding heart, a lemon queen globeflower, and a red astilbe
Red Sentinel Astilbe
We saved the calla lily root and that's back in the garden again, as it had to be stored in the garage over the winter
An aster made it through our harsh winter, as did a Morden Garnet chrysanthemum
This probably won't bloom until August but that's okay
We still need to make room for three tomato plants plus some chives

Well Andy has been a busy boy, digging up the earth and cleaning out our two composters.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that some of the seeds he put in will sprout; now we just need a few rain showers.
We had a watering can but it broke so now I have to go buy a new one
Is anybody else out there a fan of gardening?
This is one we had seeds for but they are very tiny and I see that you're supposed to just sprinkle them on the surface. They apparently need light to germinate
It's called Aurinia 'basket of gold'
I'll have to ask Andy when he gets up if he planted them like that or not

Looks like I am the only avid gardener here
Today I bought a Brussels sprout plant for Andy to plant in the garden
My Shasta daisy seeds still have not come up but I do have quite a few borage seedlings plus some basil

I'm growing tomato plants, sweet and hot peppers, cucumbers, radishes, scallions, carrots, and leaf lettuce. Also have two flower gardens and a bunch of potted flowers.

That sounds really nice - have you been gardening long? We only started gardening at a larger scale recently; before the pandemic and from 2012 until 2018 Andy was up North for most of the year
I was puttering around last summer mostly
bqoSoRxYPsUMmOVwFRVS - it is nice to see things growing; I miss it when winter is here

LOL... I have been gardening (actually weeding, picking off potato bugs, and hauling water) since I could walk. My father had a large garden on a property he owned and I was an indentured servant LOL.

So now I have 11 borage plants that are almost ready to be put in the soil, as right now they are still in pots on the deck
Andy has cut back two of the peony plants because they didn't take well to being transplanted; I bought an okra plant as an experiment to see how that will come up
We have squash (technically Italian striped zucchini), cucumbers, and of course tomatoes and a lot of flowers
Picking off potato bugs sounds like fun - can't say I have ever seen one of those!
