I really liked it up all the way up to the airplane scene with things floating all around in space, and I thought King went kinda stupid maverick with that part. But it recovered again after that.

It's a very descriptive adjective I think, like Sardonic.
(especially if you know anything about the planet Saturn's meaning/significance in Astrology, which goes back the Roman elder god of that name)
The very first time I heard/read that word was in a mid 1980's X-Men story,
lol there was a pretty fun villainess named Saturnine....
 (Alan Davis was the artist then, he was an EXCELLENT favorite)
I'd never heard that word before that
and asked my Gran what it meant,
she knew of course...
"It means Mean. Gloomy. Have you not heard that before?"
she replied and asked.
