Sinister Technically it means left handed I didn't take Latin in school but a captain in the military used the word sinister once as a pun - I didn't get it so he more or less dismissed me or showed that he thought less of me.
I wonder why the gradually phased out the teaching of Latin in schools?

Here's a word I encountered while reading Cujo: nurd. Yep, nurd with a "u". I always imagined it spelled "nerd" when Fonzie said it to Potsie Weber on Happy Days.....so what is this, some sort of regional variation on the spelling?
