Had a day off and did some shopping today, als some chores.I could not find the favourite book quotes thread so I will have to post it here:
From page 250 of the large type edition of Full Throttle by Joe Hill:
"In 1989 I began the hunts. Since then I've taken down everything from faun to orc, whurl to whizzle, and now my joy is giving other men the opportunity to kill fairy tales themselves, to slaughter the beasts of bedtime stories.
Did you know if you eat the heart of a whurl, for a while you can understand the language of squirrels?
Not that they have much to say. It's all nuts and f*cking."
This sort of tickled my funny bone, since I like to observe squirrels - they seem like curious little creatures.
I have to go take back that book now as it is overdue but I am hoping I can renew it, since I still have about 20 pages to go in the story called "Faun"

Hi Frank,
Just got back from the library where I had to pay a small fine (two books were one day overdue).
I walked there and back (I had my two books in a one strap cooler - the kind that can hold up to 18 cans of Kokanee beer)
Even used my walking sticks and went down the back lane by the Police station smilie_wet_162
It's really mild here today and only minus 1 Celsius

Also sleeping too lol You and all the other folks here !! And this Thread. Did you notice the little spelling error on the thread title?
I think we should just leave it like that!
When I was watching Ru Paul's Drag Race UK they had an Asian guy who called himself "Some Ting Wong"
He didn't win but I enjoyed watching him

I think the spelling of 'Tings' is intentional, and is an excellent example of Colloquialism from our Dizzy. a200

Reminds me of me old Dad - he was French Canadian and could not pronounce the "th" sound (when we lived in Toronto we had three storeys so he would say "I'm going up to the turd floor")

I've always like this anonymous poem. It's so fitting for a time like this.
YESTERDAY. . .TODAY AND TOMORROW
THERE are two days in every week about which we should not worry, two days which should be kept free from fear and apprehension.
One of these days is YESTERDAY with its mistakes and cares, its faults and blunders, its aches and pains. YESTERDAY has passed forever beyond our control.
All the money in the world cannot bring back YESTERDAY. We cannot undo a single act we performed; we cannot erase a single word we said. YESTERDAY is gone.
The other day we should not worry about is TOMORROW with its possible adversaries, its burdens, its large promise and poor performance. TOMORROW is also beyond our immediate control.
TOMORROW'S sun will rise, either in splendor or behind a mask of clouds--but it will rise. Until it does, we have no stake in TOMORROW for it is as yet unborn.
This leaves only one day--TODAY--. Any man can fight the battles of just one day. It is only when you and I add the burdens of those two awful eternities--YESTERDAY and TOMORROW that we break down.
It is not the Experience of TODAY that drives men mad--it is remorse or bitterness for something which happened YESTERDAY and the dread of what TOMORROW may bring.
LET US, THEREFORE, LIVE BUT ONE DAY AT A TIME.

I don't know who wrote the poem. No one does. It is used by a lot of AA groups apparently.

My "beloved" neighbours are on vacation, that makes me happy. So I take it you have stories about these “ beloved” neighbors? 😄 I have pretty good neighbors, but on one side there’s a lady who has been home from work since the whole covid thing started. She talks very LOUDLY to her two pit-bulls, Missy and Tina, as if conversing at a higher volume will somehow convince the dogs to talk back to her.🤨
