Hey wolfbear On this page 2 of this thread, in the bluish gray font is something I wrote not too long ago: "The 19 Days Of An SKMB X-Mas" Part I was written spontaneously and I should have proof read it. I tried to keep it short, but still get the story across. Part II is what I really sat down with and took my time thinking it all out. Maybe you will find it entertaining, or maybe not. Have a great day!

9/19/2019.....It's time. This is a year for great things. Remembering Sai Dalglish. The eloquent Gentleman Professor RockStar. The Gunslinger, with the cerulean blue winking eyes and the smile that made everyone around him smile. .....and it's really no surprise to me that this turns out to be my 1,319th post. Ka demands, the Wolf abides.
John inspired great love and intense loyalty in everyone who knew him. I was merely one of many. I miss my good friend and our long talks on and off the board. I am not, and was not anyone particularly special. Sai (as i have always called him) was nice to everybody. He loved, and was good to, and kind to, all who were around him. He was a great friend to me, much like a brother, or a favorite uncle, and definitely a teacher. My Professor.
I will never forget him telling me about Ludovico Ariosto's epic poem : "Orlando Furioso" (Raging Roland) and how it inspired many authors/poets as well as Robert Browning. That was only one of the valuable things he taught me. Paul Antriedes' mentat, Thufir Hawat and Roland Deschain's Cort has nothing on Sai Dalglish.
I have very fond memories of his talking about all things "great craic". In a thread, where we never engaged in "recreational profanity", but heartily agreed that it was so funny, and fun stress relief, when mastered and used with wit and skill. He laughed and said, "Mother Wolf, it will be all over Glascow by Monday morning!" Referring to the term 'recreational profanity', he was. I loved learning about "Burns Night", and how that holiday is celebrated, as well as the days long "Hogmanay". He told me, "Mother Wolf, Christmas is for children. Hogmanay is for the adults."
I will never forget all the music we shared with one another and everyone else. Nor shall I forget our making up the perfect soundtrack selections for the Dark Tower movie. And dreaming up the finest cast for that film too. I still like thinking about the old board threads like the 'Ark' and the 'Library', that everyone filled with their most loved creatures and favorite books of all types. And all the highly entertaining conversations that went on over it all. I, always hanging on every word Sai said.
He really was my hero. I asked him one Sunday morning, if he minded me calling him 'Sai', and of course, he smiled and said, "Sai away, Mother Wolf." I will never call anyone "Sai" with a capital S ever again. That is just for John. I have treasured a beautiful postcard he mailed to me from London once. It was one, of quite a few, that went into the post for friends that day. The back of it was filled with lovely notes and signatures. I was thrilled to receive it, so proud of it. And I am still so grateful that my friend thought enough of me, lowly me...to go to the time, trouble and expense to get it to my mailbox. "No worries", he would say. Only when John said that to you, did all anxiety dissipate and evaporate away, like it had never been there in the first place. He just had that easy, kind and comforting way about him. It was John, who had faith in me and encouraged me to pick up pens, pencils and drawing pad again. He urged me to take the time to dig up my buried talents and make good with them. And I am happy to say I obeyed him, and I am doing very well for it right now. Forever ever in debt to your priceless advice, Sai. My Dinh.
All that above is just a smattering of memories. I could go on for days about "Mardi Gras", discussing and speculating about all things "19" and so much more. But that's enough, and I know no one wants me go on much longer.
I know where John Dalglish is. He has R.isen I.n P.eace. He has his 'length of days'.....his longest most pleasant days and nights. He is spending his best times in all the Cantinas of the universe, in the company of all he loves, and with great wise wits the likes of Robbie Burns, St. Francis, Oscar Wilde and so many others. Discussing all the wondrous divine secrets of the world and heavens, and more, over fine Whiskey's and Irish Coffee's. And having so many great laughs, deftly and strategically putting 'recreational profanity' to good fun use. And he is playing the great gig in the sky, in that ever expanding heavenly Rock Band. And I am happy for him. I love you Sai, we all do and we miss you, our great friend.
These songs are for you today, just to say hey:
"Knockin' On Heavens Door" -Bob Dylan-
"Don't you know that you are a shooting star!....(if you listen to the wind you can still hear him play)" -Bad Company-
"Dear Mr. Fantasy, play us a tune...something to make this old heart feel..." -Traffic-
"...and I'll tell you all about it when I see you again" -Charlie Puth-
John!.....Keep puttin' the good word in for us Gunslinger.
And he is playing the great gig in the sky
Thank you so much, wolf, for remembering him. I agree with everything you say. He was very kind to me when I asked questions about the English language, both on the board and by e-mail. He was so cultured and experienced. I loved to read his comments on linguistic matters, but also his stories about his life as a musician. And he was also so funny, he always made me laugh. I will always miss him.
Great post, Wolf. Thank you.

Hey Sundrop! I've been waiting and hoping to see come post here about Sai Dalglish. I didn't want to be pushy or pressure you, so I haven't tagged you before. But I am now! Would love to read your memories of John.
That goes for Mrs.Smeej too!

I have a memory of Sai and Purrrrtricia, that I have been putting off bringing here for far too long. drawntokatet, made me think of it after her first few posts in our "Word Of The Day" thread. Thanks for that Cool Chick! 😊
There was one particular evening, I remember (back when on occasion Ms.Mod would benevolently keep the board open late for us ) the three of us, John, Pat and myself were sitting around chatting and PWI'ing...... and we were talking about the English language. And I asked John, "Sai? I've always understood English to be a Latin based language. What are the Germanic influences on English?" Yeah, I was pretty ignorant about things then. 😄😉 John laughed and referred me to a poster that Patricia A. had brought to the Cantina before. It was really cool and just said it all. I loved it and I have been trying so hard to remember exactly what it stated but it was something very like this:
"The English language have mugged and rifled through the pockets of every language there is, has taken what it wants!"
And it was written in blue on a black background, with a picture of two men dressed like they just stepped out of an old "Dragnet" epicsode having a knock down drag out fist fight! 😄
It was great. I wish I could find that picture again somewhere. 😊
I thought you and Gelata and a few others might like hearing about that memory of Sai and Pat, drawntokatet. 🙂
"Long days and pleasant nights."

.....yeah man, I just knew today was going to be a great day. 😊😉 I remember John too at the SKMB. We had some epic battles in HT but always respected each other. I donated something so there would be another prize in addition to the signed SK book in the efforts Ally undertook to raise money for his funeral. She was so pissed at me because I demanded to do it anonymously.
