I'm booting Tartt from my list and replacing her with John Irving, LOL. I should make greater efforts to read more Russell Banks and Vonnegut. The latter will be a new author for me.

But his The Neverending Story is in the top five best books i have ever read. It made a big impression on me as a reader and what a good writer of fiction could really do.

Can't believe you haven't read any Vonnegut! I haven't read much of his work, but he is wonderful IMHO. I've read Slaughterhouse-Five twice and Welcome to the Monkey House. (And one more that I can't remember. ) Would like to read Cat's Cradle next.

Bradbury is a marvelous, enchanting writer and I've found he doesn't overdo it with technical aspects common to that genre. Furthermore, John Irving taught with him (Von.) at the Iowa Writers' Workshop and it was while reading about their friendship that I pondered, "what am I missing out on, here?", and Cat's Cradle has been calling my name ever since.

We should do a buddy read! I'll be on the lookout for a couple of copies of it for us.
