I just read (or should I say skimmed through, after the first chapter) a book called "There are No Grownups" - it was not really worth taking it out of the library in my opinion.
Maybe others might enjoy it. (It is about a woman living in Paris who has just entered her 40s and how things have changed for her).
So to get back on to the topic of What Are You Reading I just checked my bookshelf - I already own The Dark Half, Four Past Midnight and Under the Dome. However UTD is a large book but it's a soft cover book.
Thinking I will probably go back and buy Black House, The Talisman and that hard cover copy of Under the Dome. It will cost me $18 but what the heck - that's not really a lot and it will add to my collection.
Just hope no other Stephen King fans happen upon the books in the Horror section as I arranged them neatly so I could take a picture
Still have not started reading The Outsider but I plan to go to my local library tomorrow to pick up the copy that is on hold for me. I'm trying to keep my own copy pristine for now!
Lordy, to think that back then Steve only had two books published (Carrie and 'Salem's Lot) and these were the different editions that there were!
Has anyone read The Bottoms by Joe R. Lansdale? I bought a used paperback - never read anything by him before. Still trying to get my hands on a copy of Fender Lizards. wireman mentioned it a while back.
Read it and loved it! You can't really go wrong with a Lansdale book.

That was a tough one to get through because of the racial elements, but I've been told that is prevalent in a lot of his books because of the time and places they are set in. Need to read another book of his to get a better feel for his work.
Hey wireman - slowly making my way through Bird Box. Have a feeling there's going to be some "animal stuff" because of the mention of a dog in the very beginning. Can you tell me how bad it is? So I can either brace myself or quit reading it. Thanks Taco Joe!

I think a brace yourself response is ok here. I don't remember anything too gross or brutal involving animals but there is one scene that I'm wondering about a little bit. I'll find it and read it again and warn you if I need to. I just got the special edition of this book in and there are a couple of short stories added to the end that I haven't read so searching for the one scene I'm wondering about gives me a perfect opportunity to read those short stories. I think you're ok.

Someone on YouTube is wanting me to do a buddy read of John Grisham's The Street Lawyer. Anyone read it? I have a paperback copy on my dresser with my Grisham books but I'm feeling iffy about it. Frank, have you read it?

morgan-- if you can avoid the animal stuff. I had a friend warn me- avoid those pages--- avoiding does not take away from the story itself. I just couldn't read that part. Think Cujo/ Resident Evil mix.

Thank you dearest Spidey. Is there any way to find out the page numbers (paperback version) I need to avoid? Don't think I can handle anything like that - especially now.

read mine on kindle-- as best I can recall it comes after the births-- when Malorie goes looking for supplies on her own and take the dog with her. Maybe Cat/ Tina knows as she is the one who warned me.

Okay. Thanks again so very much! I'm getting really close to that part.

@osnafrank
Bueller?? Anyone?
I think I'm going to start it in a few days. I've committed to a buddy read and I'm seldom disappointed in his books.

I've read a handful of his books, but he's not a favorite of mine. Looked this one up, but from the summary I don't think it's one I've read. Hope it's a decent book for your buddy read!

Thanks Morgan! I read a bunch of his books in the nineties but lost track of all his newer releases. There are others that I'm more interested in (Gray Mountain, Camino Island, and Runaway Jury) and this was not my choice. I'll let you know what I think after I read it. Do you have one or two that you liked? I thought The Client, The Firm, and The Pelican Brief were his best. The Rainmaker was pretty good.

I remember reading the four you mentioned you liked, but don't remember how I felt about The Rainmaker. I think the last one I read was The Street Lawyer and it just didn't do much for me.

Anyone else here is welcome to weigh in on this.
Okay so I did read this whole book yesterday (almost in one sitting) and there is a dog that she gets quite attached to.
The dog is not abused or mistreated in any way so I think it would okay to finish the book.
Just want to say (spoiler alert) maybe this poor dog does not have a happy ending
By the way - this was a very good book!
(I read somewhere that they changed the ending in the Netflix movie)
You know how there is a question of how only humans are affected by this mysterious entity? Well it turns out that if an animal sees one, they could also go mad.
