NHIE tried Scotch. I wanted to try it because I've heard the taste is bitter. Not sure about that. I've heard it has a calming effect on people.

NHIE wanted to be famous. & NHIE wanted to meet a movie star. (I've admired creative people from afar; I've often thought about interviewing people like Woody Allen or Diane Keaton or some other person I find curious, but I would not cross the street to meet any famous actor or director. My focus tends to be on writers.)

Only movie star, and this is a stretch, was d**k Clark (don't know why it keeps changing name of American Bandstand host to asterisk filled vulgarity but for those that do not know him first name is shortened version of Richard, WOW) when he was filming/starring in a movie called "Killers Three" made partly in my little home community. Came down to me and another local boy to play 5 year old in movie role (told y'all I was cute). Anyway went to picnic with Mr Clark and he chose other boy. Of course my Michael Jordan story is just a brush with a guy before he became THE guy. Oh and Richard Petty lives here so he doesn't count.
Don't know that any are great writers though...

Don't know that any are great writers though... Neat story. So you met Mr. Clark (as we shall refer to him, heh) in his prime? He seemed like a likable down-to-earth guy when I saw him in interviews or when he was doing the interviewing. Did your parents get any pictures of all of this excitement? I can't recall ever being on a movie set.
Now if this were a Stephen King story you would have pushed the other boy in a lake or in front of a speeding train. It's a cut throat business, I guess.

Funny addendum to story, the boy who got the part was "boyfriend" in 7th grade to girl/woman that ended up being my first wife...
We are still married by the way...
