Yes he did!.....and it was REALLY COOL too!
was his name Dr Bangor or something along the lines of Bangor?
I really don't remember hilllover36 , S.O.A. was alright and had it's moments with a good cast. But not a series I want a second go around with.
I THINK they called King's character "The Mortician"...or something like that.

It was a classic scam call neesy. But it was my first one and i just wanted to play with the scammer. I've asked him why linux isn't working under windows and why it's still cold, after closing every window. Told him about the new stew recipe i found online and after some "Yo mama" jokes, he hung up.

Man.... I sure do miss my collection of "Isaac Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine".
This is an issue I had that included these short stories, "The Jarabon" by Lee Killough and Robert Silverberg's "A Thief In Ni-Moya". Great stories that I loved and have never forgotten.
Also, that collection was the first place I found and read Barry B. Longyear's great novella "Enemy Mine".
An uncle of mine, who adored sci-fi and Norse mythology, had given it to me. I wasn't very familiar with Norse myth, and he wasn't very familiar with Greek myth, so we had really good talks and would tell each other stories.🙂
I was about 14 when he gave those magazines to me. There were so many other tales in those issues too, that I loved and read and reread. The cover art and interior illustrations were great too. 🙂 ....another part of my uncle's collection of books he gave me was this very short but EXCELLENT book, first published in 1969. A really grabbing and gripping, hold your full attention tale, a definite MUST read for Sci Fi lovers. 🙂....
The copy he gave me had this same cover, but was in much better condition. Another great story I will never forget. 🙂 Oh my stars and flamin' garters... I found a pic of my one my most beloved, worn and tattered battered and scotch-taped together copy of a Short Story Collection! (...still can't believe the scotch tape is still holding tight for all these years. The book was quite old, used and well loved by the time it reached my hands in 1981.)
"Strange Doings" by R.A. Lafferty....
I love this book and hope anyone gets to find a copy and read it! Lafferty is known to be a SF writer, but actually his stories are not entirely Sci Fi, they cross genres, going into horror and fantasy too.
A few of my my favorite stories in it are :
"World Abounding" "Once on Arania" "Ride a Tin Can" "Sodom and Gomorrah Texas"
...I really loved all of the stories in this one. But my MOST beloved tale in it is :
"Continued On Next Rock"
I got to thinking about this story again, because I was reading in "The Blair Witch" thread. I saw the first flick, Deviancy and Dizzy . There was a very strange occurrence in that movie that is SO much like one in this story. Really cool stuff, man!
.....Okay....that's my wild racing random thought for the moment. I'm done now.... Good Satyrday to all!
"Strange Doings"
