Good morning, everyone. The temps have been mild here in Alabama. It's going to be in the 50s and 60s at night all next week so I anticipate needing to turn on the air-conditioning soon. I woke up before dawn and listened to a barred owl as blue fog curled and lifted in the black sky. Sometimes I wish thoughts which torment me and nag me would vanish as easily as the fog in morning light. Good things are coming, I think. The apple tree which is four times high as the roof is beginning to sprout new green. Do you think spring will come early? I hope. Have a great Friday.

Congratulations and God bless your family and new grandson! Really? I haven't been over to SKMB yet to check the time - so was it more or less right on or just close to 11:48 p.m.?

I'm not sure. I asked Spidey but she didn't answer. When I said, "I called it, didn't I?", I was referring to a couple days ago when I told Tina I thought it'd be a boy. But, I guess he was born close to the time I said...even if it was an accident, LOL.

Thank you everyone for the good wishes and congratulations! I did get to peek at Spencer last night but I was quick about it. Peek, awww, hugs, love you and home. They needed to get some rest.
I do not know what the official birth time is, it was before 11 PM , but yep Doc you called it! Both the time and that he would be a boy!
6 lbs 15 oz and 19 inches long, I was sure he would be over 8 lbs as big as Marti was! But he is beautiful and healthy and Marti came through like a champ.
Thanks again everyone! ♡♡

Congratulations to cat in a bag and family! Whew -that was a long labor. The do need rest. Perfect baby boy and I love the name! doccreed - We had those temps Tues & Wed - yesterday it dropped and started raining. It's 23 right now, but sunny. Going to be colder tomorrow, but still sunny. I heard an owl earlier in the week. A few years ago - during my spell, I walked outside one morning and there was an owl in the tree in our front yard looking at me. Wow - that stare! Wise and intimidating. I looked away first. But it was amazing. I love birds, owls especially, I'm even entertained by the loud and pesky crows. I read a short story by T.C. Boyle last year - it was mostly about designer genetics and the makers of those things crossed crows with parrots. They were cranky birds that were always cussing. Have you ever read T.C. Boyle? You should - not necessarily his novels (I've only read The Road to Wellness, but that was entertaining!), but his short stories are so bizarre. I had some interesting dreams last night that have left me feeling like Life is going to be OK. So many guest stars in my dreams last night - friends I haven't seen, heard from, or thought of in a long time. Even morgan - who I've never seen or met outside the board - was there! My rule for dreams has always been to get in touch with someone who shows up in my dream. Unless it's someone I talk to or see on a regular basis. If someone I haven't seen or heard from in a while shows up - it's time for an email, or a phone call or a card. So I'm going to be busy with that for a few days. But it was nice. Complicated and odd - like a Tim Burton movie - but comforting. A nice way to start my day. I'm the only one here today, and I am almost caught up. I might be able to spend some time here. I've got 2 apts at 9am, but if the phone doesn't ring and no one comes to the door - it's going to be a nice day.

I do hear them a lot during colder months. We have in common a fascination with birds and I think you told me you kept a pair of binoculars by your door, as I do. I'm reading the memoir H is for Hawk which is full of interesting facts about falconry in England. I have yet to find Boyle's stories but I will look for a copy when I go to the book store with my niece in a few weeks. I have a gift card from Christmas burning a hole in my pocket.
That's curious what you said about SKMB members showing up in your dreams. I've recently had a dream that Tery and RedPanda were helping me make spaghetti, LOL. I really don't even know what either of them look like. When I first came to the board I dreamed Skimom was giving me a tour of some kind of farm, and I didn't know what she looked like then, either. I did mail a package to Tery recently so maybe she was on my mind, because I subconsciously didn't want to forget about it.

Ah Tet - the best laid plans, eh? Well Friday was darn productive - I had my list of stuff to do and I got through it. Had some office visitors - I just love people, I always have to chat and visit. So I did that to myself. But I got done by 5:15. It was our son's 18 birthday, so we took all the kids and his girlfriend out for hibachi. It was a nice evening. I had a cosmo. Just 1. For that moment while we were all there together, I felt like everyone is doing just fine and they are all going to be OK. So that's a good start to the weekend. I've got some major cleaning to do. And grocery shopping. But no work - I got it all done by Friday!
doccreed - Tery and Panda making spaghetti!! I can totally see Autumn giving you a farm tour. I see her a bit on facebook. She's so busy - full time school, full time job, full time parenting - it's a juggle. But she sounds happy and peaceful. I am certain I've dreamed of other board members over the years, but I can't remember them at the moment. We are KaTet. I hope you are stared down by an owl sometime in your life - it's quite a moment.
I have to go clean the kitchen before I can go grocery shopping. I'll be back though - I'm taking it easy today. I'd like to come visit here again later. I'm heading over to What's for supper for a cooking question.
I'm taking a clue from Doc and changing my font - our son is low vision and color blind, so I'm usually more sensitive to words on a screen - I just hadn't really thought about. Hope this is easier on the eyes.
Have a great Saturday y'all!

The Long Walk was first published in 1979 under King's pseudonym Richard Bachman. July will mark its fortieth anniversary. I'd like to conduct another read-along and discussion for this in July. I'm already doing The Talisman and The Green Mile; I don't want to over step any boundaries. If someone else would like to lead, that's fine. I just think it's a good idea and I'd like to read this book again. Please share your thoughts on the subject. Thanks.

Sounds good doccreed----- will it be conducted over at SKMB? Working on The Talisman now. The Green Mile to follow? Really enjoying these group discussions.

Yeah, I was thinking July for The Long Walk. A short summer read. After The Talisman I wanted to do The Green Mile because Linda expressed interest in doing that book next. I'm glad you are enjoying the discussions. I am too. I don't remember a lot from The Talisman and reading it every night has been great fun. Excellent writing and storytelling. (Yes, the SKMB)
