Got some chores and exercise done, and helped my daughter make rice krispy treats that she and two friends plan to use to make a model of Chichen Itza for a school project tomorrow (due Monday). Taking a quick break before heading back to tackle cleaning out my closet! ??? |

It's too humid to cut grass even with the sporadic light showers that fall during the sunshine. The mimosa and her pink lashed blooms are nodding on the boughs and wink with beads of rain. The deck and trees and everything else dries before I know it. Do you have these mimosa trees that far south? I know northern Florida does. Anyway, I love them. Their hairy little tassles have the faint fragrance of face cream and watermelon rind. I'm cooking a big dinner of meatloaf and beans and cornbread tomorrow when my sister comes. We will probably go out and do something, don't know just what yet. Spidey, Enjoy your trip to the grocery store...what's on the menu? Do you shop at Publix? Welcome skimom2 and @doyoulove. Been very lazy here today - just watching old black and white movies on Turner Classic Movie channel. I made some quasi-Rice Krispie squares (added in two other kinds of cereal and used mini coloured marshmallows).

I googled Ear trees and although they look familiar (I'm sure there were some at my old high school in Fort Myers) for some reason I don't remember the pods. The guy in the video held one in his hand and they do look like an ear or kidney bean but darker. He said he planted one (ear tree) in his tangerine orchard because it helped them produce and thrive. I guess you should watch what you say around them, they're listening. (Groans) Sorry. |

(I copied and pasted what I said as it did somehow show up in doc's post [insert puzzled look here].
It is cool, overcast and gloomy looking out there but on a positive note - I don't have to run the air conditioning! Chopped down a few Manitoba maple saplings - they are a nuisance and little more than weeds. If you don't stay on top of them they just take over.
Well, back to being lazy - might heat up chili for supper but can't quite decide - yesterday was linguine with meatballs.
