Paul Sheldon is an author of the "Misery" book series who is kidnapped by Annie Wilkes after she finds him on the side of the road after a car accident.
In Bag of Bones the main character (Mike Noonan) is an author who has a back log of books he wrote in the past but who is currently undergoing a bit of writer's block (plus feeling the ghost of his dead wife visiting him while he is up at their summer house in Maine).
In The Shining Jack Torrance is an author, spending the winter at an old grand hotel with just his wife and son for company, who slowly goes mad and tries to kill them both.

I hope that third one counts - I was having a hard time thinking of another example using the word "rope"

Neesy, you and Goober are great at this game!
1. The hedge animals that come to life at the Overlook Hotel. (The Shining) 2. The pets that are buried on the Creed's property, the 'pet sematary', which is at the end of a long path. A deadfall separates this area from the 'path' which leads to the Micmac burial ground. (Pet Sematary) 3. Many animals are dying from being trapped under the dome in Chester's Mill, Maine. (UTD)

Shower
Shower:
The most obvious one would have to be the shower scene in Carrie (of course)
The second one I thought of was Rainy Season with the shower of killer toads who fall from the sky. (published in Nightmares and Dreamscapes)
This third one may not count but it's amusing:
Shower curtains are available with Stephen King related images on them:
