Okay - this video is just a joke (I would not eat squirrel) but after seeing what the squirrel did to my newly planted sunflowers this seems like good revenge! Yesterday I planted about 17 sunflower seedlings - this morning I went out to check them and I see I'm now down to 16 - the sunflower sprout at the far end has been dug up and just disappeared. Well - I think something dug it up or maybe he/she just pulled the whole plant up and ate it, without hardly disturbing the soil at all.
This is called "Squirrel Melts" - poor quality video but weird
Poor little squirrel We have been watching a show on TV called "Alone" where the contestants are dropped off in the Arctic near Great Slave Lake in Canada. Some of them have been killing whatever they could find in order to survive (rabbits, squirrel, groundhog, etc.)
They use a bow and arrow.
This video is not meant to be taken seriously (I think)
It's funny - we eat the meat from the supermarket but we forget that something had to be killed in order for us to eat.
Still - I do agree - poor little squirrel
Now I should go out and check my sunflower sprouts to see if the "poor little squirrel" has been stealing them again (little bugger)
I'll have to buy some of that netting to put over them to keep him away.

Fries, with mini meatballs, kidney beans, string beans, corn and red pepper Yummy - looks good and is good for you too
I still haven't had any breakfast yet.
That food Andy made last night was quite good - new potatoes in their skins with butter and freshly chopped chives, thinly pounded pork tenderloin that was breaded and fried, and a chopped salad. Plus I made some tzatziki sauce with cucumber

When you go on a road trip do you ever bring a cooler with you and buy stuff along the way? I like to do that - we did that when traveling through the States to get to Toronto in October 2017.
Hey Nees I hope you have your tv situation all fixed soon! We brought a couple of coolers with us to beverages iced. grabbed something to eat on our way out of town. Really a fast run to S.A. so didn't have to stop more than twice, for gas and restroom breaks. No time or opportunity to stop at local produce stands on this particular run. We will be loading one of the igloo's up with groceries when we go to Padre Island. Got charcoal and Mesquite wood, going to grill fajita's and heat up other fixin's to go with that on the beach.

Wow - that sounds good - do they have grills by the side of the road at the rest stops? (I know you said the beach) but I was just wondering if down in the States they do that.

Bacon and egg sandwiches. Right now I'm drinking a couple Coronas. Hadn't had one in a long time, so I splurged. Now, if I just had a pool... smileys-sommer-18 (In my mind I will be on Padre Island with Wolfgang Puck...er, the Wolf Gang and her pups...something like that.)

I love all of these post here! lol, good one Doc! Trust me guys! I got you all with me in mind and heart.
Cookin' up real Tex-Mex morgan, I'll make you some roasted Chayote (also called Merlitons) tacos since you don't eat meat. They're good!
Yes Neesy, theres always those park grills around everywhere, but the particular beach we're going to doesn't have them and I'm going to enjoy building our own fire pit. We've done it there before on previous trips, still have the bricks and cast iron rack. It's pretty windy down on the island, so we're bringing a few cinder blocks as well, to build up a wind break if needed. It's all really fun and love doing it. We're thinking about driving to Corpus on Saturday, and then driving back to S.A. on Monday. But we may just wait till Sunday to leave, traffic might be even better then. .....got news about the son's college situation too ....I'll post about it later. Nothing to be alarmed about, those plans just changed suddenly. And he's got a good (better) plan already. That's my boy olfEOEbpO0rxuamBULVg ......whenever he has to do the 'scooby scramble' he hits the ground runnin' like the juggernaut! Boy never ceases to make me proud of him.

Here's this weeks farmer's market haul:
Okra Purple-Hull Peas Tomatoes Squash Onions
Tomorrow night I'm going to fry the okra with pork chops and make cornbread to go with the peas. Homemade mashed potatoes with slices of tomato and cucumber. The only thing I want before the season ends is sweet corn (the white and yellow blend) and a jar of honey. My sister is probably going to bring a watermelon.

Not sure what I'm having tonight. Tomorrow I may make a spicy meatloaf with mashed potatoes and purple-hull peas and brown sugar cornbread. Then I want to barbecue some country-style backbones in the crockpot and serve with rice, fried okra and toast.
