Not right now, but I just finished watching the short series "The Haunting of Hill House." Netflix puts out some quality stuff so I'll jot this one down. Every year they give people one free month to try to the service, so once a year I'll sign up for the free 30 days, watch the shows I've heard good things about, bail out a few weeks later. Their app on my BD player isn't that great, looks better on the ATV, hard to tell though since my friend has a 4K display, so that may be why it looks better. As for what I'm watching right now, its two things, the trailer for Scream 5, which is just being called Scream, and Con Air. Why are they calling it Scream rather than Scream 5 despite it taking place after the events of 4? No clue but despite it taking place after 4, looks like they're only going to mention things that happened in the first and kind of ignore what happened in 2-4 anyways. All a new fan really needs to know is that whatever town Sidney is from, there are a lot of weirdos. Here's the thing, do they even show movie trailers on network tv anymore? I watch LAFF a lot which is a network channel, and KTLA here and there and its always just commercials for ladies diapers or Shriners or paper towels, I haven't seen an ad for a new film in 3-4 years at least on network tv. I always find out about films now because someone will post the trailer on facebook, or I'll come across it while I'm on the Verge. Back in the day the networks were always advertising new films... so its a bit odd. I bet NBC still shows trailers since NBC owns Fandango and they're all about selling movie tickets but I never watch NBC.

There are also a lot of free services available to watch, so the roku was a pretty good deal. Weird about Scream, I'd understand if it was a remake, but it's not. This Friday on Peacock 'Halloween Kiils' premieres so i'll be all over that.

Halloween Kills, I'm waiting until Halloween morning and hitting the theater. I haven't seen a film at the theater since Halloween 2 by Rob Zombie, think its about time to hit a theater again.
As for the Scream thing, its kind of a "new trend" with slashers, or at least its becoming one.
The last Halloween film was just called Halloween, but it wasn't a reboot of the first Halloween, its considered the new official second film, so why didn't they at least give it a secondary title so fans knew it wasn't a reboot of the first?
The new Candyman film isn't a reboot of the first Candyman, its considered the new second film of the series, so why didn't they call it Candyman 2?
Now they're doing Scream it isn't a reboot of any of the first four, its the 5th chapter. So why are they just calling it Scream and not Scream 5?
Marketing ploy, imo, a way to win over new fans who may shy away if they feel they'll be lost if they hadn't seen the earlier films, while keeping the original fans happy by continuing the story.

Billions, Ballers and Silicon Valley (planning to watch this weekend) Billions is about high finance in New York and Connecticut. Ballers is about financial advisors who work for NFL players. Silicon Valley is about a small tech startup in Silicon Valley.

Finished Wer earlier, and just wrapped up Clerks 2, I need to see Wer again to get a better idea of what the hell was going on, but Clerks 2, not as good as the first but very solid development on Randall and Dante, and Becky was a nice addition. I saw it when it was first released and wasn't that into it but the second time around, I appreciated it a lot more. But damn, I forgot they used 1979 by the Pumpkins in that film, that is such a great alt rock song.

Dio, are you a fan of Mel Gibson's The Patriot? It seems like something you would enjoy, it being set during the Revolutionary War and all. I went back to it recently and was amazed at the film, generally, but more specifically with the battle sequences. This is the most accurate depiction of the battles of the day that has ever been put to screen! You've also got Mel Gibson starring, which is a major plus as well.

I'm a fan of just about all of Mel Gibson films. He's a phenomenal actor and director. I've watched 'The Patriot' about a dozen times, so I'd say 'Nah' I'm not a fan. 🤣
i once owned a property that had part of the Continental Road on it. Not much is left anymore of the historic road that isn't developed. Unfortunately in the 1830's they put four feet of ground on it when they replaced the wooden bridge on the land that Ben Franklin had built with a stone gravity bridge. Everything good is buried too deep to find with my metal detector. I did once find a flat lead disk with the detector. I later found out that it was how lead was carried by Revolutionary War soldiers to make round ball bullets.

I've watched 'The Patriot' about a dozen times, so I'd say 'Nah' I'm not a fan. Patriot is a very solid film but I think Ledger should have been the one to take out Isaac at the end, he was the one who was the future, Gibson was near the end of his 15 minutes, acting wise at least. Well, Ledger could have been the future, he sadly didn't make it but if he had survived, he'd be on top right now probably. But other than that, great film. Watching At Close Range now, Penn's actual breakthrough film, he was kind of a joke before the film, he was serious in Taps but kind of dull, but At Close Range showed he was going to be a future big shot for awhile at least. The real story is even darker, that family really did terrorize the hell out of that town... and the son, while he did get his father put away in real life as he did in the film, he just went on to end up in prison as well. Apple... tree......

Poltergeist 2 just ended and now I'm watching National Lampoon's Animal House, and than American Pie I guess.
I haven't seen in Poltergeist 2 in eons, not a bad sequel but I wish Tobe had come back for the second. Still had some cool scenes though, and the third wasn't bad, just a little less enjoyable because only O'Rourke and the old lady came back for the third.
I don't know why didn't just call the Ghostbusters. Seriously, it was a tad based on an old haunted TRU, which got a lot of national coverage. But I pulled a stunt at a TRU to show what probably happened. The workers swore a ghost was moving merch while the store was closed and putting Ken in Barbie's clothing and other random things, so I did the same thing at a Target I worked after we were closing up, just to see what would happen. Most realized some worker or customer pulled a gag but some were like, "wonder if the store is haunted???".
Do I believe in ghosts? Not in the Hollywood sense, I believe in mental ghosts.
I'll explain that on another day though.

Just finished Howling: Reborn, don't get the dislike for the film, far more depth than the others. The werewolf stuff wasn't done as well as the first film but writing wise, just more in touch with the modern era. Werewolves are always used as a metaphor of something, puberty, inner rage, what have you, in Reborn, its the issues gen y and z deal with. The lead is scared of commitment and life in general, takes the curse to make him realize its better to live in fear and enjoy life then to hide from the world. Some solid one liners about social issues in the modern era, and the mother spin adds an interesting spin to the story as well.
Was thinking of the Firestarter remake while I was watching it, I hope they do modernize it. As much as I like the original, it wouldn't hurt to make Charlie more like a young girl from this era, would give her more of an edge. Efron still concerns me though, he hasn't really done anything worthwhile.

Scream is coming... Scream is coming...
The first film was just released in UHD last week, I don't have a 4K television so I can't say how much better the PQ is but they added tons of bonus stuff, one bonus clip is of Craven going on about the franchise. Makes me a little sad, he was such a good director, had so many good ideas and you gotta love how he ripped his own creation in the first Scream. But one thing I always disagreed with him on is Shocker, he wasn't happy with it, I thought it was actually a solid film. A slasher able to travel through electronics, can you imagine how wicked that would be now with cell phones and the internet? Anywho, the next Scream, if it does what I think it will.
Interesting franchise, never the same person.
If they were ever to wrap up the story, while her brother claimed to be behind it all in the third, I think they should have it actually turn out to be her father. Her father had more of a reason than anyone to want Sidney's mother dead, she cheated on him, lied to him about her past.

The Rock...
When I say that these days some may think I'm talking about Dwayne Johnson but nope. The Rock has a lot of A listers who I didn't think would mix well but did. There's one line in the film where he goes on about spending a lot on a vinyl album, and his co-worker is like, why not just spend 10 for the cd, and he's like, these sound better. Its hard to believe that all these years later that debate is still going on, especially on the Steve Hoffman site. Anywho, I think its a fun solid action film that's close to family safe, think there's one scene between Cage and his woman where she's clothed but its obvious what they're doing that isn't suitable to kids but there's a fast forward button for brief scenes like that.
A lot of people these days can't name a favorite actor, that shocks me, there are so many good ones its actually hard just to name one and not 20.

I've watched almost 3 hours of Squid Game in 60 minutes. Way overhyped. I’m glad I’m not the only one who felt this way. You gave it more of a chance than I did- there’s no way I could have made it 3 hours. I haven’t been watching much tv lately, but sometimes late at night I’ll watch a couple of episodes of Superstore because it’s freakin hilarious.

Acting and dialogues are abysmal. And i was expecting some kind of "creative deaths", like in Saw or The collector, not just gun down the competitors.
