I'm watching the newer Bill and Ted film.
The scenes with Keanu and Alex are most excellent, totally rad.
Their daughters are a bit green however, the robot is kind of a little too silly, and I won't spoil anything but hell is involved for no logical reason, unless good people go to hell.
But well, its still a fun film, not nearly as good as the originals and we're long past when all those bands Bill and Ted loves were relevant, which is probably why don't really mention any of those bands, which kind of is a shame on one hand, but keeps things fresh on the other.
Ted's daughter is trippy looking, she looks like Wolf Finhard with boobs, or FInhard looks like her without boobs.
Kinda creeps me out a bit but again, its still a fun film.

The Criterion Channel has a bunch of neo-noir films this month. I've watched a few of them.
Hit Man (1984) Terence Stamp, John Hurt, Tim Roth
A great movie about a guy who made a deal with police and put his fellow criminals in jail. The movie picks up 10 years later when some of the guys get out and come looking for him. The always great Terence Stamp is more great than usual in this one.
Farewell My Lovely (1974) Robert Mitchum
Excellent Raymond Chandler adaptation
Homicide (1981) - William Macy
Good flick until the end. They messed up the third act.
Night Moves (1975) Gene Hackman
Overlooked 70s gem about a private eye who takes a case that turns out to be much more than it seems.
Cutter's Way (1981) Jeff Bridges, John Heard
Another overlooked gem
The Bedroom Window (1987)
Good movie until the ending. Typical Hollywood ending ruins this one.
The Onion Field (1979) James Woods
Based on the Joseph Wambaugh book. Good flick but a little too procedural.
I need to subscribe to that to explore more art house type movies. I've barely watched any movies over the summer, some I started but didn't finish because they were 3 hours long and need to get back to.

Currently watching Ghostbusters 2, which is kind of rare for me, I've seen the first countless times but the 2nd, I may have seen it five times. It has the same humor as the first, the performances by Bill and the others are just as good, but something is just off about the second film. I actually think the story in the game from 2009 is a little better than the 2nd film. Rumor has it a third is on the way with the kids or grand kids taking over while Bill and Dan just help them, and supposedly, allegedly, they're going to reveal that Dana's kid is really Peter's but she didn't tell him because didn't think he could handle it. If you go back to the second film, she says very little about who the father is other than someone she had a brief relationship with. I really don't keep tabs on movies when they're in post or pre production, there's been too many times when they just ended up in limbo so I got my hopes up and got jack. But I wasn't even aware there was another Pirates film after the one with Blackbeard because I don't keep track and because Disney didn't allow HBO, Showtime, Starz, and Epix to air it. F'in Disney, they're getting too greedy, I mean they were already super greedy but they've gotten far worse, especially with ticket prices at their amusement parks. They're making it very difficult for a blue collar family to even afford to go, I mean it would be like 500 dollars for a family of four just to get in and then food and whatnot.. f that. That film terrified me as a wee child. The slime monster in the bathtub and one of the weird effects painting faces did it for my young brain, I might've seen it before the first. I watched it again in 6th or 7th grade and thought it was alright and by then I realized how goofy a lot of the lower budgeted monster effects used in that movie was. The Dog monsters and librarian ghost in the first film scared young me too, but those were a lot less goofy looking despite being 5 years prior.

The Criterion channel has a lot of movies you won't see anywhere else. There are a mix of foreign flicks, arthouse flicks, cult flicks, hidden gems and classics. They turn over the movies quite a bit every month so you aren't stuck with the same stuff every month. They even stream their own Criterion Collection films complete with all the commentaries and bonus material. I'm sure they have a free trial. Save the trial for when you have time to binge for a few days to get a good feel of the channel. I love it.

Some picks are odd, but it's very solid in collecting older foreign or minority centered movies that would've been lost to time, at least in Western culture, otherwise. Needs some more animated movies though, some of Satoshi Kon's work (including the masterpiece animated drama, Millennium Actress) are already on there, but it's severely lacking his 1997 horror/thriller masterpiece, Perfect Blue, a movie that makes me wish animated horror was more popular (Tim Burton is a thing, sure, but I'm not a big fan, and it's more macabre than an actual attempt at real psychological horror). Even though it's a popular film as far as serious toned R rated animated movies go, I think Akira deserves a spot there, too. I've yet to see Paprika or Tokyo Godfathers, so I can't say my opinion on those, but I highly recommend Satoshi Kon's work in general, everything I've seen by him is magnificent.

Don't see the resemblance much myself. Saw a trailer for "The Turning" not too long ago. I would like to check that one out.
Lol, the latest Bill and Ted was pretty cool. (You know they just HAD to go back down, any kind of way or for ANY reason, so they could get the band back together. 😂)

Lol, the latest Bill and Ted was pretty cool. (You know they just HAD to go back down, any kind of way or for ANY reason, so they could get the band back together. 😂) It doesn't have the charm of the first two but it was a good film. But the studio is right, three is enough, they wrapped the story up perfectly. Besides, Keanu did it to be nice, he took a huge pay cut to do the film, and I don't see him willing to take a cut a second time. He's got John Wick money and the Matrix is about to start again, not sure on how it plays out, prequel or sequel, sounds like sequel, and he did seem dead but in the world of the Matrix, anything is possible. I tried watching the second 300 film today but the internet cut out so I didn't finish, but I've seen it before. Wasn't exactly historically accurate but it was fun, and I love when she feels the breeze come through and looks to the side and sees the Spartans coming, she sold that shock very well and she was very empowered, she almost took him out and he was supposed to be one of the greatest warriors. So yeah, better than the first, but it had some of the same cast. Butler isn't the greatest actor, I liked him as Dracula in Dracula 2000 but I felt he was a bit overrated later on for a brief period of time. And that silly kick into the pit scene, "THIS IS SPARTA" was overly machismo..>

Butler was a great Leonidas, Leonidas' retort/speech/monologue leading up to and including the kick into the pit with the vehement exclamation "THIS IS SPARTA!" is perfectly fitting for a SPARTAN of that time.
Lena Heady played the Queen exceptionally. The whole thing was perfectly cast, and excellent all around. One of the best 'Sword and Sandals' flick ever made.
Eva Green was quite good as Artemisa. But I didn't like that movie any where near as much as I did the other.

I really liked the first part. Is it on netflix ? Oh my god you guys...I really don't like to put things that other people like down....but that movie, "A Quiet Place", is one I was sorry I watched. I really did not like it at all. Too much of it was disappointing and irritating TO ME. And it really didn't make much sense. There were no reasonable explanations for a lot of things in that story. ..sorry 💔
Not too long ago I saw "Alien Resurrection", I really like that one, though it was no "Alien". I loved the cast and story, but it was hard to see Ridley as a cloned hybrid. I really enjoyed the CADRE OF mercenaries/space pirates/a********! 😄 Wincott is always great in my book, no matter what he does. And I always love to see Perlman in these type roles (like he did in "Blade II".) He's awesome in these roles, but I really enjoyed watching him "Pacific Rim", that was a bit different for him and highly entertaining. His character was one of the most interesting parts of the flick. And of course 'Resurrection' had Douriff. He never disappoints.
And not too long after seeing that, I watched "Galaxy Quest" again, it popped up on Hulu, not too long after we had been talking about that flick somewhere else on the Playground. (...yeeaaaaaah...me and Hulu are speaking again. 😆😉)
I just got to love "Galaxy Quest"! It's funny as hell and has some good story to it. Just a fun and funny flick. Which is good stress relief, in stressful times. 🙂 I forgive it, for poking fun at my beloved 'Original Star Trek'! 😊
When the Thermians show up!?... GO...WITH ....THEM! And bring an ugly lobster head back home on a pike, damnit! smilie_wut_086 Oh! and...put pants on Frank. 🤨 Wear the damn pants, FRANK!...you're representing the whole of Earth Commander, as well as Deutschland! 😄😉 ....you can bring the Whiskey and Coke though! 😄 wuff! 😋🐺

The Dark Knight Rises.
This is in my opinion one of if not the best movie trilogy in history. Christopher Nolan has chosen the best cast for the film and has given us the greatest Batman films to have ever been directed. Just my 2 cents.
