What language was it in I wonder? Frank - you must notice all the little details Korean. Hi drawntokatet - how are you doing?
We watched a movie called "Bombshell" recently - it was not too bad, with a good cast
Based on a true story - I hardly recognized John Lithgow

The Hitman's Bodyguard.
Michael Bryce, a protection agent, is tasked with protecting Darius Kincaid, one of the world's most famous assassins. The two must then set aside their differences to tackle several dangerous events.
Funny and Hilarious Action Comedy Thriller. Good action , acting and soundtrack. Salma Hayek steals the show in every scene she's in with her fiery screen presence and humor.

Rewatched Watchers, two genetically modified animals from a secret government base escape, one is a dog the other is a chimera which hunts the dog and kills anyone it has come in contact with. This is from 1988 and it shows, it looks dated but it is enjoyable to some degree, performances are ok, Corey Haim and Michael Ironside star. Rewatched The Babadook, a widowed mother is deep grieving for her husband, she and her young son are struggling to cope with everyday life and things go from bad to worse when their house is invaded by a malevolent entity the Babadook. I loved this one, a slow burner and really creepy. Excellent performance from the two leads. I'm just checking out this thread now (I'm almost a week behind)
The most interesting one we watched was one with Helen Mirren about an elderly woman who is quite well off and is apparently going to be ripped off by Ian McKellen (who plays a career criminal)
It wasn't too bad
I really want to see this one. Mirren and McKellan are great.

Common sense if you ask me. Well, here's the thing, they're hardly comparable. No one goes to a Marvel movie expecting some cinematic masterpiece, people just expect to have some dumb fun and watch a pretty senseless action flick with camp comedy. However, Scorcese is a world renowned director, people go into his movies actually expecting something that will stick with them. It'd make more sense to compare Marvel to DC, and Scorsese to Kubrick or someone in that same block of cinema. Comparing Marvel movies to Scorsese is like comparing a p**n magazine to a Da'Vinci painting. Completely different asides from the face value fact they're both motion pictures. Marvel movies get the same approval and love as a Scorsese film does, unfortunately. Do you know of a film critic, or anyone for that matter, who has openly criticised Marvel? Bar Martin Scorsese that is. Something very odd is going on when critics are in universal agreement about something. But then again, Disney does have a history of buying reviews.

Most people just simply don’t care. Marvel is extremely inoffensive, really. Most reviewers I watch usually give average reviews for Marvel movies and high reviews for more original films. Plus, Marvel films may be produced and overlooked by one studio but are directed by different people, meaning there is at least some variation in quality. Some reviewers just ignore Marvel films because they don’t care about them. That’s fine, makes no difference to me. I think it’s just wasting breath to get angry over pulp fiction, it’s always existed, just in different forms. And pulp doesn’t immediately mean it’s not good.

It kind of reminds me of music, you would expect the top of the music world to be the best, right? But no, as you said, its simply the most inoffensive. That's why I like DC films, well, the first several DC films, they actually took risks and took chances and did something.

Say what you want about mid to late 2010s pop music, I think it’s at least better than most of what was popular in like 2005-2010. I actually went and listened to Billie Eilish’s debut album to see what she was all about, it was eh. I found the album boring for the most part, but I’ll at least say she seems like a talented song writer even if it’s not the music for me.

Good Bye, Lenin! (2004) Daniel Bruhl
In 1990, to protect his fragile mother from a fatal shock after a long coma, a young man must keep her from learning that her beloved nation of East Germany as she knew it has disappeared.
This is my second time seeing this and it's aged very well. It's as funny and touching as it was when it was first released.

The Killing Of A Chinese Bookie (1976) Ben Gazzara / directed by John Cassavetes
This one is playing on the Criterion Channel. It's a bit of an arthouse neo-noir crime film. A strip club owner gets in trouble over a gambling debt he can't pay to the mob and they want him to kill a rival to square the debt. This is a film that didn't do well when it was released but has developed a cult following over the years. Probably not for everyone but I think it's great.
