Reports from a couple of my favorite weather YouTubers:
I may have shared those boys here previously; can't remember. But they're both good at explaining without hyping.
Normally here in northeast Georgia tropical systems are just sources of rain and wind, but it's possible Helena is gonna move so fast that she doesn't weaken much before she gets up here into the mountains...and that means trouble. It's rare, but it has happened twice in the 36 years I've lived here.
So, we'll be keeping an eye on her. Right now all I'm worrying about is whether to make the weekly run to the local Palace of Earthly Delights Thursday morning (my preferred time, quite early) or whether I should just go after work tomorrow. It's a block from the library, but I'll be battling the after-school crowds plus everybody who goes to TOILET PAPER CON 1 in response to the forecast. I'll just have to wait and see.

Sleeping in your clothes is no fun, but I wanted to be ready in case I had to run. Luckily that didn't happen.
This morning the power's still on, and the internet's still up. Winds are picking up so that could change any moment, but for now all is well...if wet. The Meep is refusing to go outside (her sibling Beep is bouncing happily around the yard, chasing leaves and ignoring the rain). Gonna be a day for reading in the recliner, methinks.
