Another question for my friends from the US.
Started "Fairy Tale" yesterday, and there's this phrase.
"...which i found out later, people like him call Amateur Night"
I think "People like him" means Alcoholics. Do they really call New Years Eve Amateur Night, and if so, why ?
Thanks in advance.
spideyman wireman wolf darkharbinger docpain2 Basically it's a joke from people who are regular or heavy drinkers calling New Year's Eve amateur night because the people who don't drink a lot are all out drinking.

New Years Eve is called Amateur Night because its the one night of the year all the nondrinkers try and get drunk like those who drink all year long. To an nonalcoholic it would be like those people who go to church all year round and see people do the Easter/Christmas thing acting like they are religious

Everyone Who Is Out Celebrating Is at Greater Risk of Injury What is the first answer you get when you type “amateur night” into the search box at urbandictionary.com? Answer: New Year’s Eve. That’s because on New Year’s Eve people with very little experience drinking alcohol consume too much of it. As a result, all sorts of bad things happen. New Year’s Eve is one of the most dangerous times of the year to be out and about. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, there are more alcohol-related car crashes on New Year’s Eve than any other day of the year.
Euphamism for New Year's Eve and St. Patrick's. When millions of people fill up all the bars get drunk and generally act like real drinkers do on a normal Tuesday.

To an nonalcoholic it would be like those people who go to church all year round and see people do the Easter/Christmas thing acting like they are religious 😂….the ‘Chreasters’. (Pro: Creesters) That’s what a parish priest I used to know, called them. Every Christmas and Easter mornings he would smile out at the huge congregation and say. ”I see all of our Chreasters are back, it’s good to see you!” 😊 The amateurs, on Amateur Night….. I have never heard New Year’s Eve called that. Not a term we use around here, that I know of. Frank, sounds like everyone who isn’t you and me. 🤣

A real Page Turner.
What a fantastic Book, i thoroughly enjoyed it. I've read, Fairy Tale was the book he wanted to write for happiness’s sake, and I think he achieved it. It gave me a lot of joy to get into this fantasy in which the prince falling in love with a dog starts the whole glorious story.
